I guess it is his computer and he can figure and publish anything he wants to. It just seems that why bother, if the predictor is the rating anyway, and would indeed be the order he would have listed the teams prior to BCS prohibition of using scores to determine ranking.

Of course I wonder why such a difference in (unofficial) RPI rankings, if indeed everyone uses the same formula. Lot's I don't understand. I know he doesn't call his "RPI" but there are a lot of people who call their's by that name. I think some even claim to use the "real" RPI formula.
 
he considers the predictor better for predicting games, but that doesn't make the elo chess rating useless. The elo chess works more like the ncaa tourney committee, ranking teams based on what they have accomplished rather than how many points they beat the patsies by.
