Per twitter: Malcolm Brown has 18 carries for 242 yds and 3 TDs. Steele leads S.A Macarthur 49-20. Steele likely plays Houston Memorial next weekend.

This includes a 79 yd TD according to another twitter post.

Who is the home team or the team that gets to choose the venue between Memorial and Steele? I guess Steele would choose the Alamo Bowl and Memorial would choose Reliant?

The former is still an easy drive for CenTex Horn fans if they choose.

I35,

That's great news to hear about Brown. I too saw Benson in High School, and thought the same thing. I felt he was the best High School player I had seen up to that point. I remember Parchman would pull Cedric about 2-3 minutes into the 3rd qtr, after he already had 200+ yards rushing, and the stands would nearly empty once they realized Benson's night was done. To hear Brown is in that same league is exciting hear. Look forward to seeing him in Burnt Orange next year.

Spring Branch Memorial is playing Cibolo Steele? Let me know more details. I would consider flying in for the game.

Steele moves on to face Houston Memorial (9-5) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Heroes Stadium in the state semifinals.

Can't figure the venue unless Steele won the flip and figures to have a decided advantage. It would draw a large crowd at the Alamodome.

Well, I live in Austin, after many years in Houston, and I thought Drew Brees was the best high school player I have ever seen (with Craig James and David Hodge from the Houston area in the mix). Never understood why the UT coaches didnt see the same thing.

I went to school in Houston at Memorial High School, which is in the Spring Branch Independent School District. Thus, that school should be labelled Spring Branch Memorial. I don't know if the playoff team is S.B. Memorial, or if there is a new team in Houston ISD called Memorial. I haven't lived there in 40 years.

I was at the game. Malcolm put on a hell of a show. He is also bigger than I thought he would be based on his pictures in the paper and so forth.

MacArthur had a very prolific offense all year. They were really set back by the injury to #6, Derek Dillard. He ripped SA Madison pretty good a few weeks back but was very limited in this game.

MacArthur could have helped their cause a lot by running more QB draws early in their series. Their QB was able to make some yards in those instances, they just didn't do it enough.

The TE for MacArthur (#22) is Jace Amaro. He was the only thing they really had going. He is indeed a big, fast, legit D1 prospect - but I don't think he has the type of speed that Finley does. Still, the kid is a hard-nosed competitor and will be an asset early on to Tech or wherever he happens to land. I certainly would not mind signing him up.

The kid we REALLY need to bust a move on is Johnny Manziel. Read me now and believe me later...

The read on Amaro was that he has some serious attitude issues. Several unsportsmanlike penalties made some major schools (including UT) back off early on. He may turn out to be a great player (certainly has the body and size) but we'll wait and see.

"MacArthur TE. That kid is a beast. Perfect size and really faster. He also has great hands. That boy is a football player... I know he's a verbal to Tech, but did we try to get him?"

i second that

Amaro started an incident late in this game on the Steele sideline. Baylor and A&M were the only other Big 12 schools recruiting him.

Ryan Simmons, MLB for Steele, #57 is also a stud. Supposedly going to Okla State, recruited by Tech and A&M. Why not Texas, I do not know. The Steele safety, #9, do not know his name, could start for Texas today.
