Pimp Daddy
This to me is the best event by far in pro golf.
Since they changed the format to all of Europe
to face off against the United States this has
become a major sporting event.
Drama, pressure, a team event with national
pride at stake. It has all of this and more with
something added for a golf event. That being
a very vocal and partial crowd. It has made
even the most strong players weak and elevated
virtual unknowns to great heights.
The two teams seem close to even in talent, but
I would say that Europe has a slight edge because
it seems they grasp the team concept better than
the USA. Golf for the most part is an individual
sport, but certainly not in this competition.
The best example of this is Tiger who even in his
glory years has never dominated in this event.
He has only been on one winning team and
that was the "Miracle at Brookline." Where the
Americans overcame a large European lead on
the last day spurred by a long putt by Justin Leonard
that halved a key late match. The winning captain
was Ben Crenshaw that predicted the comeback
the night before.
I know it's football season, but this biannual sports
event has a place too and is worth a look for
most sports fans.
