Rutgers - Dixon transferring

did anybody watch the Rutgers/Georgia game tonite? it's so frustrating! finally another women's game on national TV (and i realize it was for a good cause for the Jimmy V foundation)....but it was an ugly game. Rutgers won 45-34. i've seen high school games that were better than what i just saw. 51 combined turnovers for both teams. obviously Rutgers can play defense, because they held Georgia to 34 points TOTAL. but they looked terrible on offense, as usual.

C Viv hardly plays her freshmen. all i heard about was what a great freshman class they had coming in, but they barely played last night. i don't think any of the freshman average over 6-8 minutes/game.

and now it looks like one of the freshman is already done. according to the ESPN write-up on the game, Jasmine Dixon will be transferring.

Stringer announced after the game that guard Jasmine Dixon, part of Rutgers' heralded five-player freshman class, has decided to transfer. Dixon, the California high school player of the year last season, averaged 8.8 minutes in five games.

"I don't think Dixon will be with us," Stringer said. "You know, it's just not a good fit. Let's leave it at that. She'll be fine, we'll be fine."

Yes, I watched the Rutgers/GA game - ugly - ugly - ugly! That's Rutger's style, ugly up the game - that's what they want. And they got it last night and it does not look pretty on national TV. Let's just hope the UT/Tenn game this Sunday (on Fox, not completely national) can make a better impression. We have the (unfortunate) ability to have lots of turnovers too and create lots of turnovers - but I don't think we'll ever be held to 35 points in the entire game (for crying out loud)!

I'm sorry that game was on TV - not a good showing for college women's basketball!

More than the 35 total was the fact that GA had 22 or 23 at the half...they were completely stifled in the second half. Not that Rutgers exactly lit the place up as they pulled away...

WOW!

I'm always surprised when kids pick schools in states with drastic temperature differences. I know it sounds minute but dealing with different temps is a body shock. I know this probably has nothing to do w/ her xfering but I bet she's headed back to Sunny CALIFORNIA. No way I would go up east to frigid/freezing weather. I already told my manager, I'll transfer anywhere along the southern states, "If the southern portion of the state doesn't hit the ocean, I'm really not interested in xfering." LOL!

Anyways - Dixon I wish you well.

Not to even hint at the idea of knowing anything about basketball that Stringer doesn't know, but I have watched her take phenominal athletes and turn them into plow horses on the court. With the players she has they should be up and down the court all game long.

Hatchell at NC knows what to do with God given athletic ability. Stringer is trying to play too much of a controlled game...let the players get out and run.

i hear you on the temperature difference cynt! i used to live in cali and i loved the weather...you get spoiled by all the sun and 70 degree temp. not sure that i would have traded it for cold weather on the east coast.

it will be interesting to see where Dixon ends up. maybe UCLA. i think Duke and Cal might have been on her list, too. guess we'll have to wait and see...

I watched parts of the game. I was surprised to see the final score. I thought it would be a bit higher.

It sure was an ugly game. I'm really surprised that RU has so much trouble scoring given all the offensive players that go there.
