Russell has kept his momentum from his 4 HR performance in Omaha ... damn !!!
Moldenhomer went 3-4 yesterday in the scrimmage with Baylor ... 2 HR's, and a laced single to right field.

Other observations (I stayed 7 innings)

- Jungmann has scary pop on his fastball. Struck out the side in the 1st, but gave up 2 runs as well.

- Keyes looks shaky at 1st ... 1st ball his way, booted.

- Loy is the best college SS I've ever seen. Ever.

- Beer still taste great outside The Disch.

I wonder if Kevin Lusson will be starting at 3rd and Kyle Lusson in the outfield by Feb. I would not be surprised to see Cole Walla in one of the outfield spots.

I don't mean to talk bad about Texas players ... but if Kyle Lusson starts in RF, we have issues.

He hasn't shown me anything in games that makes me think he has what it takes to start for us.

Again, my apologies, but it's my opinion. I'm sure he's a great kid.

He did not get in the game before I left ... actually, I think they had just brought him in to pitch as I was leaving.

Write-up says he pitched a scoreless inning.

Keyes needs to stay in the outfield where he's not so much as a liability - but we need his bat in the lineup. Maybe DH?

Guru - During warmup, Stafford looked good in the outfield, a strong arm as you would expect. At the plate, he has an excellent swing. On the mound, he looked more confident than last year, threw strikes. Bottom line, he is a "playa"
IMO, Augie wants a more athletic outfield this year in the line of the Danks/Russell years.

Barton - Don't understand your comments on Kyle Lusson.
He may not be flashy or a first round draft choice, but he does not make mistakes. I am sure Augie would prefer more power and athleticism, but Kyle Lusson is a solid, focused player.

Hats off to Tommy Harmon. All the newcomers look good, especially, Urban, Walsh, Walla, and Weymouth. Urban looked excellent on the mound and Walsh as catcher. Walsh had the 2 run homer to win the game.

If Keyes isnt at first, who is? I would think Moldenhauer would be the DH option but then he could probably play some first also. Did anyone else get any innings there?

yes, Tant, who has lost some weight, also played first. imo looked more comfortable there than Keyes.
