Russell bunting?

Unfuckingbelievable. Your all-time HR leader? Unreal. Garrido overthought that one, for sure. Let's hope it doesn't bite 'em in the arse.

I can't

yeah, you may have the infield back on their heels, but in that situation, with two out ....

there is a reason no one would expect that...it doesn't make any ******* sense.

Well, obviously Augie was trying to be clever and catch the defense off guard with a safety squeeze. If it works you look like a genius and could possibly turn the momentum of the game your way, but if it doesn't, you spend the next 30 minutes cleaning egg off your face. Will someone PLEASE hand Augie a freaking TOWEL???

If it works he's a genius, if it doesnt all the keyboards coaches get to *****. It didnt work so lets all pile on the winningest coach in the history of college baseball with 5 NC's. Some of you need to calm down.

Danks and Russell are not table setters, they're run producers. To bunt in that situation is crazy, especially considering how poor of an executing team we have to begin with.

To be fair, the very reason you guys are bitching is the same reason Russell did it. Everyone KNEW he was swinging away. He was 12 inches from making the perfect bunt. Some of you need to take a deep breath, we had a player trying to make a play and it missed. Big ******* deal.

Folks are acting like a pop up would have been a better option. Get a clue.

My audio was really messed up, but in the post game presser, Kyle Russell was going off. I think he is pretty upset. He did so much for us over the years, and that almost bunt would have been sweet and added to his already huge legacy.

That which one does not do well and often should not be that which one tries when one is "all in". And as DK once said, "Dance with the one that brung ya".

Just back from the Reck. From where I was sitting, it looked like a very reasonable decision by Kyle. If it had worked, he would have been a genius.

I (Rice fan) didn't think it was a terrible idea, but not executed very well. He should have gone up the line with it (so much so that he might should have tried to bunt it foul to the 3rd base side, overexaggerating how much he didn't want to bunt it back to the P). Bunting foul in that situation, strike -- no big deal. Bunting up the line: base hit. Bunting to the P: inning over. So not a terrible idea but he did the one thing he needed to avoid like the plague.

I think it was an interesting idea and would have been great had it worked but Russel has never been a very good bunter. Seems sorta silly to try something like that if you are not very skilled.

The problem I had with it is that I didn't think 1 run there was going to win the game. We scored 4 runs last night: 3 on a Russell bomb and 1 on Rice throwing it around the field. To win that game we probably needed either another 3-run HR from Russell or another 5 errors from Rice - preferrably on 5 consecutive plays.

Kyle you are absolutely wrong!!! You are already a hero. Thanks for coming to Austin and carrying us as long as you did.

yea seriously, this is getting out of hand. the kid did what he thought was right, it didn't work out and he obviously feels like **** because of it. give it a rest folks.

besides, this team exceded midseason expectations by winning the big 12 tourney. sounds moral victory-esque, but we were scared of not even making the big 12 tourney at one point.

I agree completely. As a right field "bus bum" I can say that Kyle's homers and visits after the games were highly anticipated! He and Preston will both be missed!

Did anyone possibly tivo/record Kyle's interview?

If not, anyone know which station might have a tape of the whole thing?
