Remember the days when you could find those 20% off coupons everywhere? Now, I can't find them anywhere. I sure wouldn't mind $20-25 off my next pair of running shoes. Any clue where you can find a coupon? Do they still have that old trade-in program?

Don't know about coupons, but the trade-in program is alive and well. It used to be $10 off, but now I think it's 10% off. Could be wrong, but you definitely get somekind of discount by bringing in old shoes.

There are $25 off coupons for Run-Tex in Passbooks. I think the books are going for $8 or $9 now, and they're filled with all kinds of good stuff. Not as good as they used to be, but still good.

Why not just find the shoe you want in the store and then buy it online? We went there and took a minimal amount of the sales person's time, then found the shoes online for $20 less. Didn't have to pay shipping or tax either.

Because Paul Carozza and his crew at Runtex are good people and have done more to support and promote running in Austin than anybody else.

Free cold water at two spots on Town Lake, every single day. Morning and afternoon.

Provides equipment for nearly every race in Austin from your neighborhood 5k to the Freescale marathon.

Great customer service. I once took back a pair of shoes that were dirty from the trail and sweaty. They were rubbing a blister on me, but I had no receipt. I figured I'd have to eat the cost, but they took them back and gave me a different pair without even asking for a receipt.

Free foot type and gait analysis for anyone who asks.

They take your old dirty shoes, clean them up and give them to people who can't afford new shoes.

They don't have to do any of that stuff, but they do. Often at their own expense. They deserve my money and I'm happy to give them my business.

RunTex is a very good corporate citizen. That is why.

For those of y'all that take RunTex for granted, several national running magazines have voted them the best running store in the entire country. We are lucky to have it in our backyard.

Am i the only one that has a hard time with RunTex having my shoe size in stock? It's not like a 10 is a weird size either.

As for the coupon, try picking up a free Austin Runner magazine, or sign up for some 5K. many times they'll have a 20% off coupon in there.

That is strange. I am a size 9 and I have never had an issue.

It looks like they are building a pretty nice store in the Triangle.
