Running out of Things to Do in Virginia

If you live in Virginia, you better tell your teenage sons and daughters that if they're going to have sex, it better be full intercourse. Link.

Here's the actual bill.

Yes, you read that correctly. If a minor is caught having having oral or anal sex, he or she could be charged, not only with a crime, but with a felony and face 1 - 5 years in the slammer (and of course, carry the label of a "convicted felon" for the rest of his or her life). Hell, second offense DWI is not a felony, but this is. Something is wrong with this picture.

I don't have a problem with the part of the bill that prohibits oral and anal sex between minors and parents or grandparents, but isn't that already illegal in Virginia? Why do they have to include a special oral/anal sex provision? Weird.

I've seen where anti-porn, anti-sodomy, anti-extramaritial sex folks take an EXTREME interest in the activities they are trying to quash. The more I listened to the activists, the more I suspected they were self-righteous pervs excited to study and learn about the activities they were unsuccessfully combatting. I can just imagine them saying "No honey, I'm not looking at pornography ... I'm doing internet research. Look how disgusting this is....."

The teen pregnancy rate in Virginia has decreased about 40% since the early 90's. Time to take care of that problem!
