Running Backs Question

The talent that has (or will) be brought in the last few classes has been phenomenal, with the exception of RB. Whaley seems to be a great "thunder" type back, but the lack of a true speedster is somewhat troubling. How does aggy get these stud RB's to commit behind an OL that is not much better than a girl's powder puff team. With the amount of OL studs Texas has, why would speed backs not want to play here? Could it be these guys are too self absorbed and want to be the "guy" and not a member of a great team? Don't they realize that with winning comes the glory and notoriety? I hope someone like Lache Seastrunk realizes that he could be an intricate part of a special football team for most of his college career.

Let him go. With the other talent we have, anyone we put in the backfield will be an All Conference back. (Too much other stuff to cover.)

I hope we get Lache. The OL at Texas is going to be an RB's dream the next several years. If he doesn't come to UT I look for UT to go after several RBs in the 2011 class.

it may have something to deal with our offense...not many backs want to run east and west, or get handed the ball while standing still....just my opinion.

I thought people actually watched our team play--guess not. We act like every player can break huge runs out of terrible formations and bad play calling just because JC did it occasionally. That caught up with us big time last year, and thus our running game was atrocious. It's not going to change--though it may improve--until we change our scheme and attitude, even if we get Lache, Aaron Green, etc.

What's with all the hand-wringing about Mack's "inability" to attract top RB recruits? Whaley, McGee & Whitakker were all 4-* HS recruits, and DeSean Hales was rated the #2 athlete. We still have a good chance of getting Seastrunk.

I will tell you why, because Mack dosent give freshman many carries and the Texas offense since Vince has been geared to throwing the ball or the Qb running, the fact that Colt was the leading rusher last season tells great high school Rb's this is not a good place for them.
