I hope he keeps a handle on some of the things that have been causing him problems. If doing so also means that he can get some financial security playing football, so much the better.
I read an article a few days ago that told how Ricky was taking up new hobbies, Photography and something else, to help keep his mind occupied so he doesn't sit around and think about wanting to smoke pot. Gotta commend him for that. Hopefully it carries through the season and he has a 1,000+ yard year.
I was at the Game Saturday night. He got the loudest ovation by far,He was projected to back up Ronnie but it is looking like it will be the other way around.
My concern is that it was only a Preseason game. Ya, Ricky looked like a bat out of hell.. but then again, he was playing against a fresh defense, that when the regular season comes, will be MUCH tougher to deal with.
I still have no doubt in my mind he'll do great things though. Hell, it's been a long time since he's been the NFL, and last season, as well as this preseason, are impressive for being fresh. Ya, he's been in CFL, but that's nothing like NFL
They say that Ronnie is not coming around as quickly after his knee surgery. I think we will see Ricky more at first.
Dolphins have a talented but young o-line.
And with the QB situation I think most teams will key on the run.
It won't be easy but with two good fullbacks and if Jake Long can pick it up quick Ricky could have a great year.
That early morning against Hawaii in late August '95 seems so long ago. I'd seen the 'Recruits in Review' video a few months before... so I'd seen Ricky's high school highlights, but I still remember breaking away from a rush party to go up to my room to watch this game, and found myself thinking 'who the hell is this guy!?! Good times.
