NCAA Committee approves changes to disallow charges underneath the rim. Good.

Also, when a player is injured on a free throw shooting situation, the opposing coach gets to choose one of the other four players on the court at the time of the foul to shoot the free throws.

Can someone explain this one to me? I can understand not allowing the injured player's coach substituting the best player on the team to shoot the FT's, but why reward the opponent and let them select the big man who shoots 50% from the line? What am I missing?

Yes, that does sound like a reward for injuring a player. I think it would be better if the coach of the injured players team chose one of the remaining 4 on the court to shoot FTs.

I think the idea is that a fouls that make players leave the game are pretty rare, and so are college coaches who would refrain from having a player fake a temporary injury.

Yeah, it's more to prevent the team that was fouled from just rolling around on the floor so that a 90-percent shooter can trot in to take his shots. Basically, to force the guy that was fouled to take the shots.
