RSJ ARTICAL

That's just crazy that some folks would threaten a recruit for not making the choice they want the kid to make. RSJ didn't seem to let it bother him too much as he had really good things to say about UT as whole. Hopefully he will re-commit as he stated that Texas is the team to beat. We'll see!!

This disgusts me!!!

Did I miss where it said the threats were from Texas fans? Yes, he decommitted from UT, but in a time that he admits was crazy, it's 'crazy' to assume that UT fans were making the threats.

I'm sure he knows that negative / threatening tweets, PMs, msg board posts, etc from idoits who claim to be a fan of a school and are in fact a rival are best ignored.

>>> I was typing this as notanative was entering his note. I agree w/ him.

i think it's naive to think that every fanbase doesnt have its fair share of crazies.

and the anonymity of twitter certainly doesnt help at all.

I didn't really feel too great about what this kid has done, but now to find out that the all American citizen Eric "was there ever a bigger classless piece of **** in the SWC" Dickerson is a "mentor"? Maybe A&M can dig up that old TransAm and offer it to him.

Every fanbase has delusional fans that take things way farther than they should. Hell, in the southeastern conference, they have fans poisoning trees, fans "teabagging" drunken, passed-out opposing fans at fast food restaurants while being filmed etc.....

Having said that, there is no way to know whose fans these actually were and I wouldn't put it past Aggie fans to do this or Sooner fans or whomever else doesn't want him to come to Texas.

It's great for him that he's getting all these offers, but it has to wear on the kid after awhile getting all this scrutiny. Sometimes we get so carried away with following recruits that we forget they're high school seniors.

Bad news for Texas due to Dickerson's involvement. For those who were not around at the time, during the recruiting process aggy offered a car and Dickerson is the only one who knows what SMU paid him off with. However all Texas told him was that he would never win the Heisman at SMU. He didn't, and to this day blames Texas for that.

Sabre's description of Dickerson is a bit mild.

Viper,

A&M not only offered that piece of **** a car, they gave it to him and paid for it. Little Ronnie Meyer showed up at the Cesspool on the Brazos and told Aggy that Dickerson was driving their car to Highland Park and if they tried to do anything about it, he would have the NCAA up their *** like a proctoscope for that and a bucket full of other violations. We didn't protest too loudly considering we had more than one Aggy car parked over at Jester.

Dickerson played for the only undefeated team in the country (one tie) and not only didn't win the Hype$man, but also didn't win the National Championship. Furthermore, that team played Pitt in the Cotton Bowl in a game that could have been played at Highland Park HS and not been a sellout.

Dickerson was our "poster boy" for recruiting other RBs, particularly Edwin Simmons, Bill Jones, and Willis Mackey. We were quick to point out to a number of these kids that Earl won the Hype$man and rightfully so and so did Billy Sims at OU, but that Dickerson did not and neither would any other back going to HP and playing before 8,000 people every week.

Just feel this kid loves the lime light. IE Michael Irving..Has nothing to do with the decommit every kid should take his time and make the right choice.

I'd like to think UT doesn't have the kind of idoits for fans that some other schools do, but that's not reasonable to think that.

I seriously hope RS-J considers the source, and doesn't blame the school for some of the overly zealous fans of the Horns. If he ultimately recommits to the Horns, that will be great, but wherever he plays his college football, well...that's his right, his choice, and he gets to make it, hopefully, without any threats from the lunatic fringe.

I do NOT see RS-J as some kind of publicity hound for backing out of his original commitment...rather, I just see him giving himself the chance to be sure of his choice, whatever school it is. That's his right, since he hasn't signed his name to anything yet. He's not the first person to change his mind.

Just to add to coolhorn's point, we've been a beneficiary of decommits from other schools and we don't call them attention whores.

Viper,

FWIW, RSJ's mother and Dickerson's mother are first cousins. I think he's trading good BBQ for gumbeaux.

I'll never forget when Edwin Simmons was being recruited and he said that some Longhorn fan called him up at 4:00 a.m. and said in a real redneck accent "Son, are yew goin' to Texas er whut?""
