Our Monday-to-Monday movement -> #27 to #17 to #12 to #7 to #9

The RPI Needs Report says we need to go 9-1 from here on, to finish top-8. That means we need to go 6-1 against Texas State, Baylor, Aggy. Lose more than 2 of those games, and we will definitely hurt ourselves.

Tomorrow's Texas State game is not insignificant.

Our ISR is at #6 today.

A little surprised we didn't take a bigger hit. I'm anxious to see the polls/projections this week to hear what we need to do to get back in the Super discussion.

RPI Needs Report says 9-1. Don't see that happening.

If you are wondering, here is our ISR rating and those of our opponents (as of 4/28) with the same color coding as above. The third column is Boyd's strength of schedule (SOS) rankings. 1 31-9 6 Arizona State 2 29-11 1 Cal State Fullerton 3 30-11 4 UC Irvine

Many of our opponents have much higher ISR rankings than RPI. That explains wh we are still #6 in ISR.

We are 2-1 against top-10, 2-2 against top-15, 4-2 against top-30, 4-3 against top-40 and 7-3 against top-50.

Let us win today's Texas State game, which is an important one too.

Well, Boyd shows our RPI to be back back up to #7 again.
The ISR is #5.

It is like nothing happened, as we went 1-3-1 in the last 5 games, as our RPI was #7 before that! The Texas State win helped too.

I think we still have only a small margin of error to stay inside top-8. The RPI Needs report says we need to go 8-1, which is basically 5-1 against BU and aggy, as we will certainly win the other three games. If we go 3-3 or 4-2 against those two, we will probably have to do well in the conference tourney too. All in all, not a bad position to be in.

I think the selection committee is going to factor in conference standings quite a bit too when deciding whether we get a top 8 seeding over our Texas buddies. Obviously Rice is a shoe-in at this point. I think it is going to be important for us to beat both Baylor and aggy to get a top 8, let alone a host site. We have a solid RPI, we just need a conference record.

That Texas State game was freaking huge! Great job Horns!

I think Boyd ran some more data later yesterday and raised our RPI to #6 .. It is #6 in RPI and #5 in ISR as of wednesday afternoon. Cool.

Well, well, it keeps getting better. Boyd must have input some more data and run it today .. The thursday rankings show us at #5 in RPI and #5 in ISR !!! ... This sounds really encouraging.

Also, the RPI Needs Report now says we can go to 7-2 and still be finish top-8 in RPI. That is nice to know, but that is a bit of an unsteady thing, as it depends on what everybody else does also.

Do a 3-3 or better against BU and aggy, and we will finish at not lower than 9 or 10. Seems like winning the conference or finishing ahead of OU may be more important for a top-8 seed. We would need at least 4-2, or may be 5-1 for that. Let us get that job done.
