2-3 against top-15 ... 6-4 against top-40 ..

6 of 8 losses are for an average of 3.7 pts. The only losses for more than 4 pts are on the homecourts of the three teams who hate us most (landthiefs, farmers, pigs).

Due to that many close losses, our RPI is lower than the demonstrated quality of our team, which is somewhere in the 20-30 range. There should be no bubble-talk, and we should be somewhere between a 5 and 8 seed as of now.

Barring a 1-4 finish with a first round exit in the Big-12 tourney, we are not getting back on any bubble.

So Jayakris, you think if we get to 8-8 in conference (and second round in the Big 12 tourney) we are in? I still think it'll take 9-7. We can not finish tied with or behind Kansas State. Oklahoma State has a shot too, and desperately needs to beat us this week. I think the two remaining home games are critical. Baylor will fight like a caged animal. That game is the next huge one for us. A win over Ok State would seal the deal, but the deal isn't sealed yet in my view.

Having looked at the Wildcat's remaining schedule, I'd say it's likely the best we can do to remain tied with them. They have now won four straight road games. And play at Mizzu (loss), at Oklahoma State (?), Nebraska at home (W), and Colorado at home (W), The Cats could go 3-1, but 2-2 is a pretty solid lock. Both Texas and KSU go to OK State. I think Texas has a letdown up there. The Cowboys will play for their lives for sure. If Kansas State turns around and wins up there after we lose, that is two big data points for the NCAA selection committee. There is no way we could go in ahead of them in that scenario. We better get to 9 wins and then hope the NCAA takes at least 5 teams from a down Big 12. I think Texas has work to do yet........ Baylor in Austin is critical....

Initially, I thought #35 had died.

1 win in last 4 puts Texas on the good side of the bubble though probably will have to win at least one in the Big XII tourney, two wins should be enough even with first round exit in Big XII tourney. Obviously 3 wins and its done.

Really all Texas needs to do is beat Tech and Baylor that should get it done. Even if we finish behind K State if the Big XII only gets 4 teams Texas will be in. Texas finishing fifth is a real scenario for the big XII getting 5 teams.

Yeah, barring a 1-4 including a first round loss in B12 tourney, we are in safely. Really, if we lose to Tech and Baylor at home now, we do not deserve to go, anyway. But we will get those two wins - and probably a couple more wins too by selection sunday.

Folks, I pray that it will be a moot point anyway. But you guys most have some awfully burnt-orange tinted glasses if you truly believe all we need do is win tomorrow night and seal up a 0.500 conference record in order to make the NCAA tournament. Should we lose out post-Tech and we would have a three game losing streak. And we would very likely finish no better than a tie for 6th in the conference, and our RPI would be somewhere in the middle forties. If that scenario plays out, Texas had better get to the finals of the Big 12 to have any shot, or it's NIT. We need a 9-7 conference mark to make it in safely. We need to finish no worse than a tie for 5th. There is no way in hell the Big 12 is getting 6 teams in, period. And Texas cannot get in over teams like Oklahoma State and Nebraska, if we finish behind them in the final standings. I know we are Texas and I know we beat Villanova and UCLA last year, but we will need to go 2-2 down the stretch. Again, I hope you don’t need see that demonstrated. But facts are facts. Does everyone understand right now Texas stands 7-5 in a tie with Kansas State for 4th place? , Likewise, does everyone understand us and Kansas State are one spare game in front of both Oklahoma State and Nebraska? The Big 12 only gets as many as 5 teams in the Big Dance if Texas is the team in 5th. How in the heck can we think a 1-3 record from here in gets us anything but NIT? If 8-8 is good enough, then Big 12 going to get 6 teams in the NCAA tournament- I just don’t see it.

Who do we pull for in tonight's game between A&M and Nebraska in Lincoln? I am inclined to think Aggy as that would give Nebraska a 7th conference loss (apologies to Husker in Kingwood).
