I studied the original stone and my hieroglyphics are AWESOME!
As for the software... consider this a "bump".
But as with all software/books. They work much better if you actually use them than if you don't. That may sound retarded, but I've got hundreds of dollars of books and software that hasn't helped me a lick, because I never use them.
PS- You might be able to get some starter software from your local library. (Or maybe the main branch.)
My sister purchased the online 1 year subscription. I tried it once and it was pretty good. We took Greek I together and she wasn't going to be able to continue with me in Greek II so she bought the online version. With me keeping her updated and Rosetta Stone, she shouldn't be too far behind when the next class resumes next fall.
My Greek teacher also said the Rosetta Stone version was good and recommended it as a supplement.
i was given spanish a year or 2 ago. when i used it, it was awesome. i lost the disk (was on my desk, now it's not) so i haven't had any chance to do anything lately. i didn't know they had an online version.
like someone said, you have to use it. but i think if you set aside x amount of time every day, it'll work.
A lot of people really like it. I tried a demo of it online once on the rosetta stone website. You may want to browse around there and try the demo to see if you like it.
