Rosenblatt memorabilia auction set
So you want a piece of history from Rosenblatt Stadium?
Put in your bid.
The Omaha Zoo Foundation announced Monday that it would auction off memorabilia from Rosenblatt on June 23 — right in the middle of the College World Series.
And everything must go.
OK, not quite everything. But the list of items up for auction ranges from the main stadium sign marking “Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium,” a limited number of stadium seats, down to urinals and toilet paper dispensers.
“I think it's going to be a frenzy,” said Mark Beacom, vice president of Auction Solutions Inc., which is working on the auction. “I think people will really want a piece of that stadium to take home.”
The auction — which will include 900 lots of memorabilia — will start at 9 a.m. on auction day and offer both in-person bidding on the southwest side of Rosenblatt and simultaneous online bidding through online auction service Proxibid Inc.

Beacom said a few items are still being officially authenticated, including a photo of Cincinnati Reds great Johnny Bench.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Henry Doorly Zoo's “Infield at the Zoo” project, which will preserve Rosenblatt's home plate and build a replica infield and small-scale grandstand at the stadium site.
Calvin Sisson, executive director of the Omaha Zoo Foundation, said in a statement that the project will create a beautiful public space outdoors to be enjoyed by future generations.
“Rosenblatt Stadium is a sports icon in itself,” he said. “We are thrilled to be able to share the stadium memorabilia with baseball and College World Series fans from across the country.”
The Zoo Foundation took ownership of Rosenblatt on Thursday and has begun salvage work, which has included shipping off two scoreboards for use at Omaha Burke and Northwest High Schools. Full demolition of the stadium is expected to take place late next year.
