Rosenblatt = Alex Box Stadium North

I was shocked by how much the LSU fans outnumbered Texas fans during this championship series. The “LSU” chant rocked Rosenblatt the way “Texas Fight” rocks DKR. We were outnumbered by about a 4:1 margin; it was like a home series for them. I was there for the 2004 games against Cal State Fullerton too, and I’m sure we had a lot more burnt orange for that series. Any ideas as to why we had such a poor showing of fans?

I feel extremely guilty about not attending. It appeared the majority of LSU fans were students or student age; is that correct? Texas baseball does not have a great student following other than friends of the players.

Would like to see Orangebloods (Robert) comments on this thread due to his experience and judgment.

The majority of LSU fans were not students. They had a large contigent of fans there definitely. Many drove 17 hours to get there. I dont think we were necessarily outnumbered heavily but definitely out cheered. What else is new.
They have a pretty cool yell leader. He is an older guy who really keeps them cheering. Our fans were there too but they were dispersed throughout the crowd and were not organized.

i was there. we were easily outnumbered. lsu knew going up there they were the best team and most likely the team to win. that had something to do with it. i made the drive with the impression we would lose, but wanted to go anyways. i didn't think we had it in us to beat their team, but i was wrong.

I was there, too. LSU fans did outnumber UT fans 4 to 1. There was a surprisingly large number of Southern Miss fans there while the team still was. They were definitely louder than Texas fans at our game.

It was a rather disappointing turnout for the Burnt Orange. We'll have to do better next year when UT claims the final National Championship at Rosenblatt.

I think they outnumbered us 3:1. The other 1:1 were locals who were rooting for LSU. Everywhere we went we ran into locals who said they were rooting for the Tigers.

LSU averages 9,000+ for every home game. That means LSU has a lot of season ticket holders who go to most of their games. If those season ticket holders invest so much time and money attending LSU home games it is only natural for them to continue to follow LSU in ths NCAA tournament. And since Omaha is the ultimate payoff for a successful team it is only natural that they also go to Omaha. Toss in the fans who want to witness potential championships for their team, and it is understandable that LSU had more fans there than the other schools.

However, the real reason why LSU had more fans than the other schools has little to do with baseball. There are many LSU fans in Omaha for the party atmosphere. LSU fans have developed relationships with bar and restaurant owners that have been beneficial to the owners and employees of those establishments, and those establishments have gone out of their way to cater to LSU fans. Thus you get LSU fans who go to Omaha for the fun of hanging out and partying with LSU fans and those who welcome them.

You will find LSU fans in Omaha during the College World Series even when the basball team does not make the College World Series.

I doubt Poodle goes to Omaha very often then or he is blind. Because if he/she did go they would know that there is a very large contingent of Texas fans there.

Can you blame anybody living in that cesspool of a State that is Lousyana for wanting to get out of there whenever they can? It is a decent place to visit or drive through but boy are they backwards. Corruption, humidity, bugs, illiteracy abounds.

Some very nice, simple hokie type people for sure with good food. That is about where it ends with some exceptions.

What litnin said...we walked into a bar after the second game and were cheered by the locals. We also had many locals tell us that they'd been Longhorn fans forever, so I don't think they were catering to only the LSU fans.
