Rose Bowl Veterans: How good/bad are these seats?

You folks that have been there...I need your insight here.

From what i can tell viewing pictures, the Rose Bowl has been added onto many times, and seats have been added on the field.

My seats are on that level in the end zone, just a few rows up, pretty much dead-center. Now, of course I know the obvious limitations of being in the end zone in terms of not seeing the action on the other end very well. However, does the intimate, "right on the field" nature of these seats make up for that when the action is on your end? Or are they TOO close? Will there be people like bandmembers, cheerleaders, etc obstructing our view?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Just so nobody (hopefully) berates me about the nature of the question, this seems like a legitimate question somewhat unique to this stadium. Many people with these field level "Lettered Row" seats may have similar questions.

In the Rose Bowl, moreso than in other stadiums (stadia?) you're probably better off being in the front of the end zone rather than the back of the end zone.

Reason: the Rose Bowl is more "plate" than "bowl." It's like someone took a typical college stadium and flattened it out--so the seats around the back edge of the stadium are (i) not nearly as high up as the back row in most stadiums (such as DKR), and (ii) they're MUCH farther back from the field (because in order to make room for seats, the built more horizontally and less vertically). So if you have seats in back of the end zone, you're not going UP (which can give you a better vantage point on the action), but you are going BACK . . . and back . . . and back . . . so now you're far from the field, AND you don't have the usual tradeoff of height vs. horizontal line of sight.

When I was there in '06, my seats were almost all the way back, directly under the jumbotron--so I couldn't even see what was on the screen very well (I was about as far from Vince's final touchdown run as it was possible to be without leaving the city of Pasadena altogether). Since you're not gaining much height by sitting in back, you may as well be as close to the field as possible.

Who cares, you got them for face price.

We had front row seats right behind the team for OU this year. I didn't think I would like them from the "view" aspect.
Turns out, we really liked them. yeah, you don't have as good an overall view, but being that close to the action was a lot of fun.

ANYWHERE in
the stadium is better than not!

I'm on row 60 for this one, want to trade?? (just kidding)

I have been to 9-10 games in the Rose Bowl and have sat all over the place. For as big as that stadium is, not a bad seat in the house. Of course that is my opinion but I think the majority would agree.
