So I have hail damage from Friday's storms here in Austin. Are there ny roofers you can recommend? Anything I should watch out for, or any Nick Dangeresque recommendations you can give me on what and what not to do?
Im not a roofer but I had my roof replaced a couple of years back. The one thing that I learned was that they vary widely on their prices. Get 5 or 6 estimates. Never tell any roofer what your insurance company has offered you as an estimate for repair until the roofer makes an offer to you.
Also, if a lot of houses got hit in your neighborhood, wait a bit to get the work done if your roof is not damaged too badly or leaking. There will be lots of roofers dropping by competing for business.
regular 3 tab is 23$ tear off per square and 75$ put back-plus waste dumping fees. steep pitch, extra layers of shingles and extra stories will add to the cost.
call Mottco roofing (look in the yellow pages).
i use em all the time. very honest former adjuster is the owner.
widely varying prices from different roofers is an indication that you are dealing with some dishonest characters. roof price estimates for the same type of roof should all be very close. there arent any unknowns.
i would definately stay away from the neighborhood roaming storm chasers.. this is a group of theives. use someone local
if you have a regular shingle roof, insist that whoever puts your new one on does'nt put it on with staples... they suck. make sure they use nails.
