I enjoyed his music no matter what band he was in and for such a small man he had a big voice and an even bigger impression on rock and roll or metal music. I like to think he was a big Longhorns fan but his

has stood the test of time in music.

Rest in peace, RJD.

I was never a big fan, but I totally recognize his contribution to heavy metal.

Here's a Rock N Roll

for you, Dio...

RIP Dio. I remember high school days jamming to Dio's Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and solo rock. He had a voice that dwarfed everything around him.

Like veggieboy, I recognize his contributions, but I never got into his music. But I am sad that he has died, because cancer wins again. F cancer.

I am glad that he is now resting. I am a huge RJD fan. I have been a fan since the first time I heard "Rainbow in the Dark" way back in junior high. I became an even bigger fan when I saw him at "The Backroom" off Riverside back in 94-95 or thereabouts. This was a down period for heavy metal and a lot of acts that were accustomed to playing big venues in the 80's were now relegated to smaller gigs such as "The Backroom". Most of those artists acted put out having to play these smaller venues. However, RJD came in and rocked the house. He went 100% and really impressed me. I feel very fortunate to have caught him in such an intimate setting. It was a fantastic show. Three or four years later, Ozzfest brought heavy metal back into the fore and folks like RJD were once again presented in the big venues.

RIP to the Man on the Silver Mountain.

I was throwing up The Horns to Dio long before my Dad finally worked that Burnt Orange blood infusion that my punkinhead needed so long ago.

Ronnie James rocked me in Dallas on 18 Nov 1984 and the next year on 17 Nov 1985 and through the rest of my formative years and I'll always be a fan. Far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure I'm in the minority -- and I do love Ozzy, it was addition by subtraction when he joined Sabbath and I'm still damned disappointed that I let work get in the way of going to that show in the mid 80s. Stupid little grocery store job caused me to sell my tix to Sabbath with Dio as the Lead.

RIP.

I was not allowed in Jr. High to watch Sabbath for the Mob Rules tour because my mom thought they were too evil. I ended up at shows for Slayer and bands like that in H.S. Well done, mom.
