Ron Artest's elbow

Yeah, yeah, his name is legally Metta World Peace. I get it, it's ironic, kind of like calling a large person "Tiny".

You know what's worse than a guy who throws cheap shots at opposing players? A guy who throws cheap shots at opposing players and then doesn't have the guts to admit it, but apologizies for "accidentally" hitting people instead.

I watched the tape about 20 times trying to find any semblance of "only celebration," but it's quite apparent he knew that Hardin was right there. I think in his pea brain, the elbow was going to lightly hit Hardin's back as part of the show, and he went overboard (to say the least) and misjudged where his elbow should land. I don't doubt the severity was an accident. But I know he was intentionally rubbing it in.

I think he should get a 10-game suspension. If the Lakers make it to game #10 in the playoffs, then he can rejoin. He had been quite a catalyst with Bryant out.

In an entirely separate thought, I've always wondered why, during possession changes, opposing players seem to get "so close" to each other as they pass to get back to the other side of the court. It's almost like the five guys on one team seek out the five on the other team to "bump" into while the ball is being inbounded. I played some form of organized ball for 12+ years and I don't ever recall walking into an opponent on a change of possession unless it was an accident. Hardin probably saw Artest celebrating like a freakshow... so why walk within inches of him? He's a psychopath.

I just wish somebody, somewhere would knock him the f out. After that cheap crap against Berea last year, and now with this, he needs his *** kicked. Time for somebody to man up and take him down. This is why I like hockey better. You got a problem with somebody, time for talk is over and now it's time to get your fight on.

With his history artest needs to sit down until next year. it was flagrant recklessness at best, resulting in serious injury that will likely keep Hardin out for the first series.

Artest is a punk, always has been. that doesn't bother me much, but the league letting it go lightly punished sends a seriously dangerous signal to the players.

What's really telling is that he didn't even turn around after he hit Harden. If he didn't know he was there, you would think he would look to see who he hit.

What bothers me is this is the way the NBA may look at it:
He gets what he deserves and is suspended through the playoffs vs. the Lakers making the finals.

If he is not suspended for the playoffs, then we know the NBA fix for the Lakers is on.

Artest has been suspended 14 times. Thats one four. Wonder what other sport would put up with a thug that long. He shold have played his last game. I know it won't happen but hope his year is through at least.
Oh he should be forced to take his name back before stepping on the court again.

"Oh he should be forced to take his name back before stepping on the court again."

fify: He should be forced to change his name to "World Piece of ****"

I agree with everything that's been said except the part about how it would be so easy to go toe to toe with Artest in a violent situation to put him in his place. He a massive package of big, strong, fast-twitch, prone to violence, and crazy. Not a lot of people actually want a close-up piece of that, at least not in the basketball world.

It's very funny that you should say that, because Tonya Harding did beat Ron Artest...on the list of 10 Greatest Sports Scandals. "The Ice Storm" in which Tonya had Nancy whacked came in 6th, but "The Basketbrawl," when Ron Artest freaked out after Ben Wallace stood up to him, placed 10th.

"Bring on Ron Artest!"

He just needs his *** whipped. Guarantee you he wouldn't have "accidentally" elbowed Perkins in the head. He's a low life punk who wouldn't dare challenge people his own size.

Rest of the season and all of playoffs. Give him some conditions to meet over the summer and let him reapply to Stern for next season. They played that game at home I believe. seems like it coulda got "malice at the palace" ugly if it had been on the road.

This thread inspired me to re-watch the good ole Pacers-Pistons Malace at the Palace Fight of 2004!
