Romney's Grandfather was at a polygamist commune?

So the Dem Gov of Montana pointed out that Mitt Romney's Grandfather was a member of a branch in mexico where some practiced polygamy. Mitt's granparents did NOT practice polygamy but

While discussing swing states, Schweitzer said Romney would have a “tall order to position Hispanics to vote for him,” and I replied that was mildly ironic since Mitt’s father was born in Mexico, giving the clan a nominal claim to being Hispanic. Schweitzer replied that it is “kinda ironic given that his family came from a polygamy commune in Mexico, but then he’d have to talk about his family coming from a polygamy commune in Mexico, given the gender discrepancy.” Women, he said, are “not great fans of polygamy, 86 percent were not great fans of polygamy. I am not alleging by any stretch that Romney is a polygamist and approves of [the] polygamy lifestyle, but his father was born into [a] polygamy commune in Mexico.”

So he is not"alleging" that romney is a polygamist. How honorable of him.
Yet this Dem Gov says Romney could have trouble getting Hispanics and women to vote for him since Romeny's father was born to manogamous parents who lived in a commune.

I guess the ol Gov forgot BO was born to a man who was at the least a bigamist several times in his life including while he was with BO's mother.

Not a very good move on the Governor's part and I am guessing this caused several head slapping moments at the WH.

I think the Montana Gov trying to make this an issue suggests some Dem want to deflect from the real issues.

Notice this Gov had now comment when first asked but had to call back to give his view. and apparently this was the best he had, the polygamy angle

I would have loved to have heard any conversation the gov had with any aides he had that they thought attacking Romney's grandparents was the way to go.

i actually feel sorry for BO with this story.Not something he would have brought up

I can't imagine a bigger non-story. How many people who come from a long line of Mormons don't have a polygamist somewhere in their ancestry? Besides, how could Democrats exploit something like this - even if Romney was a polygamist himself? I thought the idea of marriage as being between one man and one woman was nothing more than the imposition of antiquated religious values on society. Surely nobody who supports same-sex marriage wouldn't be hypocritical and enough of an intellectual fraud to oppose polygamy.
