My brief take
He's not worth as much as I thought
He paid less than I thought in taxes.
He's given generously to charity

BO paid less than I thought as well but has also been generous to charities.

I suspect the difference has to do with what amount they made in capital gains? Any other thoughts.

in a semi-related topic, what happened with the story last month that someone claimed to have stolen Romney's taxes from a Tennessee PWC office (physically, not electronically) and was going to either release or bury the evidence with a $1MM payout? Wasn't the deadline for payment Sept 21?

Admirable gift to charities. It's nice to see a man who loves God show it by tithing instead of public displays of holier than thou religiosity accompanied by little Godly giving.

The truth, Crockett. I wish I could stand my religious convictions up as straight as Romney's. Heck, I have a hard enough time not cursing at other drivers when I'm trying to leave the church parking lot.

Osama is dead. Why are you interested in his college records? Your posts suggest that you have been damaged somehow. I hope and pray for your recovery.

He only paid $1.9 million dollars in taxes? Yes, I now agree with the liberals - he needs to pay his fair share. He should pay $14 million so that more people can have free cigarettes, alcohol, cable tv, and healthcare.

Not sure where you got your numbers from on Romney 2011, but it looks like he paid 3,226,623.00 in taxes. In 2011 the federal government collected $1,100,000,000,000.00. It is estimated the number of workers in 2011 is at about 140,000,000. This makes $1,100,000,000,000.00/140,000,000 = $7,857 per person in taxes. So what Romney paid in taxes covers atleast 411 people. How can one person be obligated to cover that manyt people.

I35 are you on the Rick Perry political team? That's the most innovative take on a public issue I've seen since Rick Perry, faced with a hard question about the number of Texans without health insurance, bragged that it's just the freedom loving people of his state "choosing" not to have coverage.

Did Kerry face this much scrutiny from Harry Reid and the media in 2004? As I recall he paid less than 15% as well.

One thing is for certain, the NY Times, ABC, and all the rest have teams of tax lawyers reviewing every line for any little thing they can use against him.
