This article describes Romney's campaign well. Before the campaigns really got under way I thought I'd probably be a Romney man. I at least thought my decision between Romney and Giuliani would be difficult. It wasn't. As soon as the candidates presented themselves I immediately picked Giuliani. Romney didn't describe himself as who he was - a talented executive with traditional moderate Republic vales - an economic and foreign policy conservative and a social moderate. He went to great lengths to repackage himself and it alienated me, not because I didn't like the new product but because it was phony. And he spent most of his time trying to sell the phony part. Sad.

Well said. Like many people, I am looing for a good businessman that is an economic and foreign policy conservative, and is a social progressive/moderate. The Romney that was Mass. gov might have fit that bill. But, the Romney that ran for president screwed it up, sacrificing his business leadership in order to play up the the social conservative ********.

I guess the other way to look at this was that his role as a moderate in Mass. was fake and this was the real Romney. Either way, it doesn't work.
