Why did I look at this list?
I knew if I looked at this list I was going to be upset. First of all George Harrison is not a better guitar player than Stevie Ray Vaughan. How can they leave off Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson? Not to mention Paul Gilbert.

i agree with some. disagree with others.

i WOULD put Harrison above SRV however. SRV had better chops no doubt. Harrison was a better musician, and listener, and songwriter.

Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed, Paul Simon, and the guy from "The Stooges" are better guitarists than Lindsey Buckingham, Alex Lifeson, and Dimebag Darell. Excellent. Will we ever be rid of the confounded baby boomers?

Hey, at least they had the decency to hold their noses and put that gauche Ritchie Blackmore in front of the oh-so-chic guy from "the Smiths." That's something.

Predictable and mostly agreeable except for a few points.

First off….Neil Young (the most ridiculously overrated guitar player of all time) is at #17 but Alex Lifeson is at #98?

Second…..Bonnie Raitt made the cut but no Nancy Wilson?

Third….where the hell is Davey Johnston?

With B.B.King anywhere on the list, it loses every bit of credibility. Those five note riffs of his are so basic a child could play them.

Harrison deserves a slightly higher rating than SRV because of his formal training and the varied types of leads he always fit perfectly to Beatles array of music.

The Edge is terrible. Lindsey B is one of the great fingerstyle guitar players. in rock, he is probably the best ever at that style.
