Rollerblading w/ dogs?

I moved to Austin recently (love it!) and wanted to know where I can go rollerblading with my dog? I went to the veloway, but what! No dogs allowed! I moved here from Fort Worth, which doesn't have many redeeming qualities, but it did have a great park with a paved 1.2 mile loop where I could take the pooch.

I live in the south right by Central Market off of Westgate... so somewhere in the south would be appreciated, rather than some place in *gasp* Round Rock.

Any help?

Thanks guys... been loving the message board so far.

Dick Nichols Park on Beckett about a quarter mile past the intersection of Convict Hill and Beckett has a mile long concrete loop around the park where you could go roller blading with your dogs. Its a nice little park not that far from you and would accomodate your needs. Its not asphault like the veloway, but still a smooth ride around. check it out.

I can 2nd that recommendation. I've lived about 2 minutes away from the park for 5 years and it's great for riding a bike or rollerblading with dogs. They need to be on a leash though, since lots of people walk the trail with their dogs.

Okay, thanks so much for the recommendation! I went there last night and it is pretty much *exactly* what I was looking for!

You guys rock... thanks for the help!

I rode my bike by there yesterday with my son and actually glanced over to see if I'd catch someone on blades with a dog. Didn't see you, but glad you found it. Across the street (and slightly north) there is an entract to a small greenbelt. If you're walking or running your dog, that's a nice area too. Make sure you scoop the dog poop so I don't run over it on my bike! There are dog poop bags at the entrace of the greenbelt.
