Rockport lodging

I'm heading to Rockport to fish and wanted to know if there are any good places to stay. I see the chains but was wondering if there's a cool place I shouldn't miss.

I don't know if it's "cool," but we like the Inn at Fulton Harbor across from Charlotte Plummer's.

Inn at Fulton Harbor is a good place. It is especially good with younger kids with their pool. I liked their security cameras with kayak on the vehicle. We own a house down there now.

If you're going with the wife/girlfriend Hoopes House B&B is my recommendation. She can have breakfast there at 9 or so and walk the shopping from there while you're on the water. Ask for the garden court, much quieter(street noise wise) than the rooms in the house. Or ask for the room with the Claw foot and shower in the turret The Link

Be aware 1st weekend is Oct. is Seafair the biggest festival/event(giant nautical themed antique/garage sale) of the year for Rockport.

Also, Rockport just opened a small aquarium out on the harbor that focuses at bay life. I haven't seen it yet but, apparently years ago Rockport had a nice aquarium in the same building.

i second the lighthouse inn. i've been liking rockport more than port a lately. better restaraunts and fishing.

Lighthouse is another good couples place but the rooms are small for traveling with kids. They closed down the Palm restaurant at the Lighthouse Inn in the past year. Now they just serve continental breakfast and basic bar fare.

They do have 2 room suites with kitchenettes at the Lighthouse. They were pretty nice.

The past two times we've stayed in cottage 12 at this place:

I've also heard really good things about the Pelican Bay Resort:

We went fishing at Aransas Pass last month. We stayed at the Hawthorne Suites in Aransas Pass. ~$75 with AAA discount including hot buffet breakfast, king bed, sleeper sofa and full kitchen (full sized fridge and range).
