Robbie Knievel Jump at ROT Rally, Capital Bldg.

First off, here come the bikes. Starting tomorrow we should start hearing the rumble of bikes around Austin. Many don't like it but I do. I even live along a route they frequent and it does not bug me. I personally would not own or ride a motorcycle but enjoy the Rally.

On Friday, Robbie Knievel, Evil's son, is going to jump 3 trucks lengthwise in front of the Capital Building. It is a free show and may be something to take your kids to go see. I saw on tv that he is retiring very soon so this may be the first or last time to see a legend.

Not sure what face is/was, but I saw a "The Jump" ticket selling for $50.00 on craigslist. I had no idea what this was until seeing this thread.

It will also be televised live on News 8 Austin.

I hate those bikes and their noise by the way.
Where is the enforcement of the noise ordinance that shut down Freddie's music for them ?

Just a word of advice...

Do not pull up to what seems to be an empty port-o-john on your fourwheeler to relieve yourself, especially if you see "Property of the Banditos " written on the front.

Don't ask me how I came to know this.

To get in between 11th and 10th streets you have to have a ROT wrist band and $20.00. From 10th to 9th anyone with $20.00. Anywhere south of 9th is free. The Bud trucks will be lined up, end to end, on 11th street. If there are any tickets remaining, they will have to be purchased at the gate(s).

So the free tickets are the ones you won't be able to see anything, awesome. All of a sudden I don't give a **** if this dude spontaneously combusts mid jump.

ROT has gotten so expensive. I’d imagine a few die-hards like the banditos are still going, but there are tons of rubies. I guess it’s worth it if you like seeing a lot of boobs (some you wish you hadn’t seen).

Yeah...I suppose there are at least a few diehards that show up, since ROT is the SECOND LARGEST
bike rally in the country, behind Sturgis.

Perhaps my definition of a RUB differs from yours. For example, I consider the majority of the people riding a Harley less than 5 years old a RUB (unless it’s your only form of transportation). If you used a trailer to transport your bike, I consider you a RUB. If you're riding a Big Dog (or the like), I think it's obvious you must be a RUB. Those are nice bikes but cost a pretty penny.

...And I didn't know diehard was one word - glad I noticed your spelling. I did exagerate. I'd still say it's 70% rubs, but it's all relative. If you can afford a $5,000+ toy/status symbol, I think you’re a rub. It's the same kind of prejudice people use when they see a Hummer. It's not fair, but that's life from those (like me) that are jealous.

I am that way about Hummers. I have never driven a Hummer that did not have a machine gun mounted on it. Anybody that does not have a fully automatic .50 Cal on it is a hack.

I just want to hear more about the Bandito's port-a-john story. How about some more info?
And what's a RUB? I didn't know bikers were so class conscious. It would appear those who ride around Austin on their hobby $5000 bikes for the ROT rally are looked down upon by the more serious bikers. Maybe you're not a real biker unless your gang takes over small coastal towns, carries off all the females, and sets up meth stands on the beach.

"since ROT is the SECOND LARGEST bike rally in the country, behind Sturgis."

Rot probably doesn't make the top ten based on attendance.

The 'Big Four'
This site is all about the larger motorcycle rallies and other biker events, so mention must be made to the four largest rallies in the United States. These are, in order of largest estimated attendance:

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - 650,000
Daytona Bike Week - 550,000
Laconia Motorcycle Week - 400,000
Myrtle Beach Bike Week - 300,000The Link

accuratehorn - RUB is an acronym for Rich Urban Biker. There are also those called 2%ers (two percenters) who consider themselves the "real" bikers by their definition. I am neither - just a poor guy with no bike. I grew up in a ghetto where making more than $10 an hour was considered well off, so my perception is skewed.

EDIT:

If you do plan on setting up a meth stand on the beach, make sure you don't bring your production facilities. It gets very hot and is likely to blow up your car/stand.

you're confused with aggy.

Outlaw bikers call themselves one percenters. Because the president of the American Motorcycle Assn once said 99% of all bikers are good folk.

I went to the "River Run" in Laughlin NV a few years ago. I had a great time.

Agree on the girls though. About 1 out of 3 you wish would have stayed completely dressed

I watched it on TV. I think you'd probably have to pay me $20 to drag my *** downtown to watch that, not the other way around. And Robbie's daughter butchered the Star Spangled Banner.

The best part of the coverage on Channel 8 was the girl stalling for time for thirty minutes, so she would turn to the crowd and ask them questions, like where were they from...Austin, enlightening answers like that. These two deaf guys were right behind the fence in view of the camera while she talked away, using sign language all the time.
You could see it coming, the reporter turns around and walks up to one of them and asked where he was from or something, it was just an awkward moment. I guess you had to be watching, never mind.
