Roadrunner w/o getting cable

Anyone get Roadrunner w/o getting cable? I don't watch enough TV to justify paying $40 for the standard package, but living without an internet connection at home is becoming a big pain in the butt.

Or, is it possible to have DSL w/o a land line? Other than international phone calls to family, I rarely use my home phone, and would rather just use a calling card with my cell phone.

Anyone have information to share?

I had cable and cancelled it and kept the roadrunner. Ironically, it seems they can't really "cancel" the cable, because I still have expanded basic + hbo. (they did come out and climb the pole, so I suppose they removed my digital service) Your RR bill goes up by 10 bucks, to total $46 a month. But now I have a tivo instead of dvr and it's almost $100/ month cheaper.

There are other options that TWC sells for Cable Modem Service. Earthlink, and two others I can't recall. They usually don't require an additional fee if you're not a cable subscriber.

a friend of mine had a cable modem through at&t in dallas a few years ago. he claims that he was able to watch cable tv by splitting the cable that went from the wall to the modem into his tv.

I have earthlink high speed here in KC

I use Time Warners lines- but earthlink is my provider.

I pay 41.95 per month- and I have satellite TV- not cable.

I have roadrunner without cable since I have DirectTV. Once I ran the cable to my TV and got nothing so at least that day they were not sending TV down the cable

Getting Earthlink with Roadrunner is pretty good. If you're ever out of town, or if the cable goes out, you get to use Earthlink's access numbers to connect without using something like NetZero or Juno.

I have roadrunner and no cable tv in austin. I screwed the cable in the tv, but only got 2 mexican stations and a fuzzy BET.

hornimal - I have an AT&T(Comcast) cable modem and had heard the same thing. It is either BS or they have fixed the problem because that is not true at my house.
