Road Runner Modem acting weird

Kinda strange.

Every once in awhile I'll be surfing, and I'll click on a link, or new page, and it won't load. I'll get the standard 'unable to locate URL' error or what not. But, after several times of this happening, as soon as I noticed it was freezing up I watched the LEDs on the modem, and here's what it's doing:

- Three solid lights: Power/Cable/PC - Data light is blinking quick and steady (doing that most of the time, actually)
- Then, after about 10 seconds, the data light goes out and the Cable light starts to blink slow for about 3 seconds
- After 3 seconds of slow blinking, it blinks quickly for another 3 to 5, then goes out completely (data still out)
- Stays off for about another 5 to 10 seconds, then comes back on and everything is 'fine' (data blinking again)

It happens every time, just like this.
Never lasts more than a minute or so.
Happens at least once or twice during sessions, either before work, in the evening, whatever, so I would have to assume this is happening constantly.

Any ideas?

Already called TW, and (naturally) everything looks fine from their end, but they can 'send someone out' at the most inconvenient time.

That's weird, my SBC DSL is doing the same thing. I click on a link and there's a delay before the page comes up or the page won't load at all(unable to locate error), even though my DSL is working fine, as far as I know. Everything was fine until a couple days ago.

every now and again TWC gets overloaded. you have no choice and close theproper closee proces. It happened to me during a demo today I got home . I dropped the battery, restarted and it was fine, after that I kiled the 10 Volume Control instances to work out my day. Me I'm an email add web killer, thats HtTP over RPC, I pick on networks. we can fix this.
what an odd night, I have night over girl I want to meet, thn its just MM and then no booze. to easy. oard, want to hit the UK

I would like to chat/IM again. the MSN folks are too fun, too system adist.

It could just be your cable modem. Mine worked flawlessly for a couple of years, then it started dropping connections periodically. Once it started happening daily, I called TWC, and scheduled a service call. Instead of waiting for the service call, I took the old modem to TWC, and exchanged it for a new one. The new one works flawlessly.

My problem wasn't exactly the same as yours, as I had to reset my modem every time the connection dropped. Exchanging your modem is easy enough to do, and it might solve your issue.

*sigh* Squirrel, we're having a similar, but not identical, problem with our modem. The "Ready" light is frequently dark, but the strange thing is that whether or not the light is on, I will get a message saying something like "Attempting to connect to dial-up connection" because the computer has all of a sudden gone offline.

This happens daily. We just signed up with RR about 3 weeks ago and it was working fine for about a week. I called TWC last night and of course was told that everything looked fine on their end, they couldn't imagine what was causing that and would I like to schedule a service call? Um.... NO, I wouldn't, we JUST SIGNED UP FOR THE DAMN SERVICE and our modem was NEW!!!

So, do y'all think it might be a virus? Our new computer is not even a month old and has not been subjected to years of spam opportunities.

Ours is doing the same thing!!! We've called time warner and like you said it looks just fine on there end. They tell us to unplug the modem and plug back in that way the ready light will stay on. Well it works after a while than the ready light starts to dim out or flashing and i lose connection. I also have a wireless card from time w. rr. and it keeps cutting off!!! I never had this much trouble with SBC global. The only reason why i switched was to put my cable and phone bill all on one bill.
