Rivals

Does anyone know why Rivals is only showing 9 commits?
John is included in the 9. With Johnson, I thought we would have 11 commits.

I believe Jalen Campbell, a DB from Corpus previously committed to UT, is reevaluating schools and has therefore been dropped (at this point at least) from the list. Hence, down to 9 at this particular moment.

Jalen Campbell & Johnny Shaw have not had their offers approved by the new staff, so until if & when they do, they were removed from most recruiting lists (if not all)...

10/4, hopefully the HC and staff can get going on some higher ranked commits. It is still a long time until next February, but I only see 7 three star commits so far. Could be they are ranked too low, but this HC and staff has yet to get a 4 or 5 star commit for 2015 which seems to be a bit of a slow start.

We'll need to win to pull in the top recruits. We haven't been doing a good job of that lately, outside last year's OU game.

So why are people so worried about stars next to a players name, they mean nothing. When you look at a player after their college careers are over the five star players are rarely top draft picks. Most first rounders are three and four stars players. So why does rivals even bothers to rank them, just so they can get it wrong time after time? Nope, its to sell you subscriptions. It wouldn't matter who they rank as a five star player because at the end of the day it is just a shot in the dark, but hey, they sold that subscription so they must know something.

In the 2014 recruiting class, the HC and staff recruited and signed four 3 stars and one 2 star. So far for 2015 the HC and staff has seven 3 stars committed.
If you think that not being able to land one 4 or 5 star rated recruit doesn't matter, then by all means be happy with our recruiting efforts.
I heard we are hiring a recruiting coordinator form OU yesterday, so hopefully our recruiting will improve from this point.

Ivan, I am not concerned with how many stars are next to the players names at all, not one little bit. I have no faith in the Rivals stars system period. If all you care about is a recruiting title them you will be disappointed. I am concerned about one thing, winning football games and if strong can win with two star players then I am the happiest man on the planet.

We will never play for a National Championship with 2 & 3 star recruits. Neither will Alabama, Notre Dame, USC or any other major program. Part of this HC's job is to get the players on campus to win a championship and 3 star players wont get it done.
Hiring a recruiting coordinator this week with experience at Texas, OU and Okla State might be an indicator that we can do better.
It is a long way to the next signing date, so we do have time to correct our recruiting efforts and sign a top 10 class.

Alabama most certainly is playing with 3 star players. In fact their offense is loaded with 3 star players. You would think they would be all five stars, but they are not.

Except that 5 stars bust out so much of the time and it's 3 stars that make it to the NFL in droves over the 5's and not just because there are more of them. Star rankings are crap for the most part and it's a silly crap shoot with unreliable intangibles.

Are you proposing that a team consisting of three stars is just as apt to play for a NC than a team consisting of four stars? I would disagree and history would be on my side including at Texas.
What is happening at present is a failure of this HC to recruit the players needed to play for a championship.
This HC and staff have yet to recruit, commit or sign any player rated higher than a three star player at this point.
The white flag went up this week and they hired a recruiting coordinator that should have been on board the day the HC fired the last recruiting coordinator.
From the press release the HC and staff couldn't even schedule the recruiting visits properly.
The good news is that it was not too late get a competent recruiting coordinator l on board and salvage this years recruiting. I think we hired a good one.
Think about it. We are in April , have had Jr days, and the spring game and have not gotten one four or five star(highly ranked) commitment. Lot of work to do before next February, but pretty bad HC recruiting performance to wait until April to get a good recruiting coordinator on board.

I went back and checked Alabama's recruiting from 2011 thru 2015 commits. 18 five stars, 64 four stars, 30 three stars. Their 2015 commits are 2 five stars, 10 four stars and 2 threes stars.
Alabama is not winning by recruiting 3 stars players.

Ivan, all I am proposing is don't look at the stars next to the name, Rivals knows nothing about player development, they are flat out wrong most of the time. 100p knows it, I know it and the NFL sure as hell knows it. And you are wrong about Alabama, go check their offenses first team roster and tell how many three stars started last year. I don't care how many they recruited that doesn't matter what does is how many are starting.
