Rivals Pre-Season Coaches Ranking

I'd call it puzzling.

Just comparing Barnes to Sean Miller, directly above, brings the algorithm into question. Barnes has a better winning percentage than Miller in the period that Miller has been a HC, and more NCAA wins. Miller doesn't have a FF, while Barnes does, and Barnes has two EEs in the period while Miller has been a HC to Miller's one.

Another example: Boeheim. Is he past his prime? Probably. But he has 800 wins and a NC. It's flat-out ridiculous that Matt Painter is ahead of him. And Painter shouldn't be ahead of Mike Montgomery or Bo Ryan, either.

And we haven't gotten to the absurdity of Tubby Smith barely making the list.

I have to question Jeff Capel, Jamie Dixon, Lorenzo Romar and even Jay Wright. I am pretty sure Barnes has done more than all of these coaches this decade. But I believe they are skewed towards last year's results, mainly.

I'd call it worthless.

Romar, Painter, and Miller above Barnes, Donovan, and Tubby? Ridiculous. Even Barnes above Donovan is suspect.
