Here is a list of all the 3-star or better high school players (2-star for kickers) from Texas on Rivals.com. All players in the Rivals National Top 100 are in bold. Their last ranking is after their current ranking, and their original Rivals ranking is after that (e.g. 1/3/4 would signify a player currently ranked #1 at his position who was #3 last month and #4 when the rankings first came out in July - UR means not at least a 3-star, not actual Rivals numerical ranking for the purposes of this list). Anybody notice how our commits (and other Texas players) have been knocked down a few pegs in the ratings over the last update?

Damn. Looks like the only commits we have that didn't lose ground were Robinson and Scott.

Couple of star corrections: I think Jason Carter has been moved up to a 4-star recruit. Also, Ben Wilkerson is now a 5-star player.

You can do a rivals search limiting it to 3 star and state of Texas players with the all colleges and all positions boxes checked. However, the history of their ranking, the UR, and whether they are top 100 players won't be spit out. I couldn't get a linked query to work right so I only know the "manual way of searching" at a rivals site.

Unless they are just total studs, early commits usually dont get as much respect as those who hang on til Feb. On the same note, it is hard for me to believe that Hickson and Benson are considered 4star running backs. Those guys with 5stars must be awesome!

"Switzer IS an ('I cant say that word because it will get bleeped by somebody') " (Overheard at every TX-OU game ever played).

Maybe Benson does have speed issues that will affect him in college, but christ, how can you logically not rank him as a 5-star with the productivity he has shown?

Thanks for the work.

My only problem with this list, is that it shows that the Texas commits aren't all rising in the ranking both after they committed and as the season has progressed. Did someone forget to mail our bribery check to Rivals, or is there a chink in the armor that is the Orange Conspiracy?

Brian has never been ranked as a 3-star or better player by Rivals.

Whether he should or not is a different argument. This list merely organizes the Rivals ratings.

Little clarification needed: The rankings are national, and based on position, correct? In other words, Hightower is the best O-lineman in the country according to Rivals.

If that's true, what does it take to be a 5 star player? Johnson is listed as the 7th best linebacker and Jackson the 10th best defensive end, yet both are "only" 4 star players. I assume they don't make the top 10 in each position a 5 star, with numbers 11-20 falling to 4 star and so forth. But is there some kind of method to the madness?

Something you'll never hear in a job interview:
"I see you graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Very impressive."

Updated - Please note that the players on bold (Top 100 players) are right now not official. They are based on the number of players from each position that were Top 100 last time around.

Huck-there were some "star" changes as well. But I don't know if you want to add a 5-star category for RB, and move JH to 4-star. FYI

Peace and Love
