Rivals.com: OU is #1

it is our scheduling philosophy for OOC

1 patsy (1AA or the like)
1 middle of the road team (rice, tulsa, etc.)
1 traditional power (ND, USC, etc.)

I'm not sure about the fourth game since we now have one, but Joe C. has stated publicly the above is our strategy.

Tulsa was a bowl team. What would you consider middle of the road teams? For me, it means good teams from crappy conferences for the most part. Your Tulsa's, Southern Miss, etc. There are really only three categories for me, and apparently our AD....

1. doormats or 1AA teams.
2. traditional powers
3. everybody else.

I would say Tulsa falls into the everybody else category.

Rice is crappy. I was trying to make you feel better about your scheduling.

I can only drool at the thought of OU losing that game.

It would provide comedic derision material for decades, of the kind that only aggy gives us now.

Tulsa may be better than patsy some years but I think your "everybody else" category is way too broad. Big difference between Tulsa and say....Boston College. BC is nowhere near elite but they're also a hell of a lot better than Tulsa. So are the ones I mentioned....Arkansas, ASU, etc

Final '07 Sagarin Rankings:

78 Florida Atlantic
130 UTEP
25 Arkansas
152 Rice

19 Cincinnati
55 Washington
50 TCU

OU has the tougher OOC schedule, top to bottom.

Here's a question for you...if there was a round robin tournament between OU and Texas's OOC opponents, what would be the results?

ou does indeed suck. They suck on a level that cannot be measured, charted, or generically labeled. I HATE all things ou as much if not more than any true Longhorn and Texas-Ex. That being said, there is no way we can mock their OOC scheduling. They are playing the heavyweights of college football over the next few years (Florida. St., Notre Dame, Tennessee) and doing exactly what mack and Deloss have shied away from since Ohio St.
