RIP Roy Scheider

This comes as a shock to me, RS was one of my favorite actors. RIP

RIP

To the Trifecta.

He did star in that horrible movie about a college debate team, also starring Kirk Cameron and Jamie Gertz. But the rest of his body of work should overshadow that.

In case you missed it, check out "52 Pick-Up" from back in the mid-80's. Very underrated suspense flick. Scheider kicked *** in the lead role, plus Ann Margaret and Kelly Preston were lookin' really hot.

I tend to hate musicals, but All That Jazz was a pretty f-ing good movie, and helped make me a huge fan of Scheider.

"It's showtime, folks!"

I'm with NYC Matt. It's easy to think of Scheider as Chief Brody, but his work in All That Jazz, The French Connection, Marathon Man, etc. shows just how versatile of an actor he was.

RIP.

Let's not forget his turn in 2011, the sequel to "2001: A Space Odyssey". Thanks to him, I enjoyed that flick, even though everyone and his brother compared it to Kubrick's "masterpiece" and thus ran it down. Of course, no sequel could live up to those expectations, but Roy pulled the team on his back over the finish line to a halfway decent film.

He played a great big brother to Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man as said earlier. Weird to think he apparently was the first choice to play John Rambo in First Blood.

I really liked Blue Thunder, I still have a JAFO cap. Great actor, never really a Hollywood "personality". You never saw his face plastered all over the covers of the tabloids at the supermarket check out counter. WE will miss you Chief Brody.
