Holy effing ****! Dammit! That is a damn shame. His keyboards WERE "The Pink Floyd" during the Syd Barrett years, and he and Gilmour blended together so well (Echoes, Time, Us and Them). I just saw a David Gilmour special on VH1 Classic last week from his last tour, Richard was on tour with him and they did Arnold Layne, the keyboards were incredible, that great psychadelic sound.
Another of my favorite bands (Beatles, Zeppelin, Who...) gone forever, can't have a whole without all the parts.
Waters treated him like crap over The Wall firing. In his later years he seemed really at peace working with Gilmore on his last solo effort and tour.
It is well knows that Gilmour likes to surround himself, musically, with people he knows and trust. But Gilmour did not picked Wright as they know each other, David picked him as he still trusted/respected Wright as a musician.
