an article I read a moment ago having seen your post described me and likely others. The name did not pop out at me. But I knew if you liked him, he was great and worth a quick read. WOW, I totally know who he is. Veteran of the second war to end all wars, former boxer, award winner and in lots of things I have seen.

Rest in peace you incredibly talented man with a long career. Respects to your family, friends and fans.

We lost a good one with Charles Durning. Besides being a great actor he was a humble but proud survivor of the Normandy invasion - Omaha Beach!!

Not only was he a proud survivor of D-Day but he killed a man with a rock after being bayonetted by him.

He was one of those character actors whose name you might not know, but knew his face well. Good actor who will be missed.
