RIP Bobby Bowden

Coach Bowden has his home number listed in the phonebook and in information.

A quote from a meeting with him and some friends - "Yes, my number is listed. Like I told my boys, if a man is willing to spend his time and his dime to call you, you're not too damn good to talk to him".

Great man, great coach, a true Southern gentleman.

I was his seat mate years ago from ATL to IAH. We were in 1st class and when others started boarding you would have thought he was the Pope. Bobby was a lot of fun on the flight. He knew I was a Longhorn because of my hat, he told me that Darrell Royal was a good friend of his. I think FL St was #2 then. I asked him why he was going to TX. He told me most of the good players were from there and they all couldn't play for Darrell.:hookem:

My wife is a FSU grad from the mid - late 70's, before FSU got scary good. She is not a HUGE college football fan, but she thinks the world of a very down to earth coach BB that they had while she was a Tallahassee Lasse.

He built up FSU from nothing. Nebraska lost a few Orange Bowls to FSU but when the Seminoles beat NU in 1980 Bowden sent this letter which leaves me with nothing but respect for the man.
