right click -> explore does not open new window

I am running Win XP Pro SP 1. I just did a windows update of some security issues. I do not have SP2 installed.

Before the update, when I did right-click -> explore in explorer it usually opened a new explorer window. Now when I right click -> explore in the right pane of explorer, it just navigates to that directory in the same pane. If i right click -> explore in the left pane, a new explorer window appears. Does anyone know why its doing this?

idig is right.. i guess it always was like this.. wtf is wrong with me. i need to get more sleep or something.
somehow how much OU sux is to blame for this situation.
