He's not very eloquent about it, but it looks like he's trying to say "why even play the sport if they're going to eliminate all the stuff that makes it physical?"
He comes across as ignorant. He won't believe a doctor that concussions are bad for your brain because 100 years ago science was different?
I am always surprised when people question Ricky's intelligence. Ricky Williams is "way" ahead of his time and his peers, intellectually. He is extraordinarily cerebral, and he always has been. Because he lacked maturity for a time, Ricky was perhaps the most misunderstood athlete of his time.
When Ricky Williams talks, folks should pay attention. He may not always be correct, but he will almost always offer a different and interesting perspective. Personally, I prefer that to the canned, mindless political correctness that we usually hear from the pundits -- or should I say nitwits -- on ESPN.
