Rick Perry in NH - 10/28/31

He looks like he is very uncomfortable and wants to be seen as real relaxed and at ease. It is a Nixon like performance. Sorry some of you are too young to recall Nixon's occasional off the wall appearances. He was not comfortable in public but from what I have heard, a real pleasure in small groups.

Perry is up against it big time and trying to appear like a good guy and relaxed. And doing the exact opposite. That clip is brutal.

And for those of you who have never done hashish and peyote simultaneously, yes, it is a bit like that, but not exactly.

Nixon was a studious man with capacity for great understanding, vision and strategic thinking. Rick not so much. Nixon was poor at identifying with ordinary people and awkward trying to make small talk. Perry is awkward when he talks. On the positive side of comparison, Perry's blind spot in the area of ethics and compassion is smaller than Nixon's.

A letter writer who had been enjoying the presidential debates lamented that Perry will not appear in all of them. "Watching the GOP presidential debates without Gov. Rick Perry will be like watching an episode of Gilligan's Island without Gilligan."http://letterstotheeditorblog.dallasnews.com/

With the Herman Cain revelations and the Rick Perry speech in NH, the Republicans are surely locked in on Romney with his steady 23%...unless Chris Christie comes riding in in a white wheel barrel.

We've always known he was a buffoon, and then his debates on the national stage creating his tremendous drop in the polls and now this...is this not SURELY his death knell?

I look at Romney and I wonder if there is any principle within him that is sacred enough that he wouldn't reverse his position on it in a heartbeat if it meant he would be President.

I get that feeling with every one of them, actually, with the exception of Ron Paul and Huntsman. Perry, Bachman, Gingrich ... nothing but opportunistic political hacks.

This is what the Republicans have brought us to challenge Obama.

We're screwed.

If they keep self destructing and Romney is unacceptable to most of them, does this not create an opening for a brokered convention and Jeb, the smart Bush?

Bush/Huntsman would make a nice ticket.

That Perry could be the longest serving governor is the state's history is proof positive that Texans don't pay attention so long as politicians talk conservative.

It's pretty mind-blowing. All of those people who are "anyone but Obama" surely will have to give pause before voting for any of these yahoos. Obama's international record alone will stand the test.

1) Getting out of Iraq

2) Getting Osama

3) Using Libya as a model for how international coalition should be organized and used to lead a war, accomplish its objectives and not use one U.S. boot on the ground.

4) Setting deadlines for Afghanistan

I'd say that's a pretty strong resume to start with.

Obama's international record is seriously hurt by the fact that he can't look out his front window and see Russia across the Bering Strait.

Osama wasn't in Afghanistan, he was enjoying life securely in Pakistan, our ally if I recall, until the mean Seals went in and ruined everything.

Actually, I would agree that Obama gets decent marks for his foreign policy. He hasn't started any unnecessary unfunded wars and he has not pizzed off any allies or made them think an idiot is in charge. I think he understands that the French do have a word for entrepreneur and that there are some blacks in Brazil. He did not look into Putin's eyes and see a good man.

He's been a sort of cut from the pattern cold war type as far as I can tell.

He does need to go to sub Saharan Africa and Asia and tell those crazy effs to quit having so many kids. But other than that, he is certainly acceptable.

Remember when we had a secretary of state who defended the Salvadoran military raping and murdering some American nuns by saying that the nuns may have fired on them? Or the liberation of the medical students who were not in any danger? Or the sale of the weapons to Iran to fight the invaders who we had encouraged and the use of the profits to fund people we had a law agaiinst funding?

Those were the days.
