We may not have faced much zone defense before this game, but I have a feeling we will see more of it from now on. Play zone and hope Hamilton is off his game. Seems like a plan to me.

Another observation: Jai Lucas certainly has a consistent outside shot and I don't mean that in a good way. I'm beginning to think somebody hacked the Florida stat sheet that claims he was 44% from behind the arc.

Not sure what to think about this game. Funny how we can shoot 44% beyond the arc and still have to fight to stay in it.

This one seemed to hinge on the zone and not forcing turnovers. Not a single turnover forced by any of our guards, which I said would be our downfall after the Navy/LaTech games.

The stretch from Rice's timeout with about 7 min left in the first half until our own timeout with like 2 min left was unbearable. Lucas and Hamilton looked like they were trying to get something started without actually attempting real plays or anything. Without that switchup by Rice, we dominate and probably win by 20-30 points.

Games like this are bound to happen, especially in a rebuilding year like this one. We just need to make sure we get them out of our system over the next month.

To his credit Lucas did hit a couple of threes in the 2nd half, but this could have easily been one for the "L" column. That free throw monster rears it's ugly head once again.

Face it. Rick Barnes is a great basketball coach, but he's not an offensive coach. His teams historically have shot poorly and unless there is an absolute superstar on the team (preferably a point guard), the teams just stand around and look lost. Rick could use an offensive coordinator, unfortunately, this game doesn't lend itself to that. This Texas team will never see the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

we din't play great but it was good to face a team that runs this defense so we won't look like this against it in the future.

Whoa.....the team must have been looking ahead to Lamar.

I think Rice is pretty decent and when Jordan could not hit, they packed it in on Thompson. And we had a bad day. It was a good lesson. It was a downer to come back from NYC, eat a bunch of food, & worry about finals. Yes we should have won by 10, but we will struggle a bit when Jordan struggles. Fortunately Jai and Cory picked up the slack. And yes, I think we were looking ahead to Lamar.
