Rice Tickets - Do not understand

I benefited from this so I'm not complaining, but this doesn't make any sense. I walked up to the box office at Reliant literally 20 minutes before kickoff and paid $150 for 2 on the 40-yard line, Texas side, 5 rows up.

You couldn't buy those on the internet the day before and everyone I know that got tickets thru UT had crap seats.

Someone help me make sense of this.

We got our tickets online from Ticketmaster the day they went on sale. Very good seats, Sec 126 Row V. 45yd line. Surprised such seats were not given to the University to sell, but I am not complaining either.

4x, I'm guessing you got some VIP tickets that were being held for late requests. You may be starting a lucky streak so a trip to Vegas might be a good idea.

I walked up to the south ticket window 1.5 hours before the start of the game. I could not buy a reserved seat. Signs stated all reserved seats were sold, standing room only. So I paid $20 for a standing room only seat and sat on the 50 yard line. There were thousands of empty seats.

I bought two $20 (no tax or service charge) upper deck tickets at the box office 2 hours before kick and as noted by a prior post there were thousands of empty yardline seats a few rows from the field to choose from once inside. I specifically did not buy ahead of time from the LHF or from ticketmaster or others offering at face because I had a pretty strong feeling that would be the case.
The stadium looked pretty full on TV but it was not hard to find several empty adjacent seats on the 50YL.

We got to the box office just as they were selling out. there were no tickets on the street. it was very strange to me.

I echo the sentiment that they were held for VIPs and you just got extremely lucky in timing.

Maybe it b/c you parked your car at ROCC and took a pink limo up to the ticket booth???
