Rice not on schedule

I was just checking out the 2011 schedule and I don't see Rice on it. What's up with that?

Said it in the other thread and I'll say it again here: I very much enjoy our rivalry with Rice and am sad to see it interrupted.

Wayne Graham might not have a lot of respect for the University of Texas (at least, not publicly), but he's an excellent coach and what he's done for the Rice program is nothing short of extraordinary.

Jim - In your opinion, or from what you have heard, why aren't we playing Rice ? I read the link about the Hawaii series and additional games.

Note that we are playing Maryland and Brown 4 game series which is not the norm. If we played them 3 games series, that would leave 2 games to play Rice. I think there may be some other reason for not playing Rice. Thoughts ?

I think it was more that someone wanted a 3 game set rather than a handful of Tuesdays. I have no idea of the root cause either.

The Hawai'i games don't count for the scheduled limit, so something could be done if someone wanted?

We are also not going to Stanford like we used to (it used to be home and away every other year) but now the pattern is different.

I miss going to Palo Alto every other year, and hitting the west coast every year for some baseball.

this is because we were screwed by their local umps 2 yrs. ago. coming off the field after the argument I heard Augie loudly drop F bombs screaming at the Rice 3rd base coach that we would never come back.

We've played 4 games series the at least the last 2 seasons since the schedule was moved up so that is not why we are playing Rice. I just noticed them missing from the schedule too. I can't provide any other insight.
