Ric Flair 'To be the Man'..

Anybody read this or at least skimmed through it? Growing up during the wrestling BOOM of the mid/late 90's, it's an interesting inside take on the shadiness of the biz. I think the book can be summed up by saying Ric Flair thinks/thought Eric Bischoff is/was an *******.

Also, the book has some funny *** stories about Flair and the crew. Turns out his son was banging/"dating" Stacy Keibler.

I haven't read it, but I would like to, especially considering that he probably won't be an active wrestler for much longer; he was one of my favorites growing up.

WOOOOOOOOOO

...bought it when released....read a chapter or so....he talks about his conquests early and often....not as interesting as I thought it would be and I put it back on the bookshelf for later review perhaps.

I own a DVD collection of Ric Flair matches/promos that WWF put out. The only bad thing is that WWF doesn't own the World Class library, so no matches with the Von Erichs, but it has a lot of other great stuff.

Have not read the book, but I might one of these days.

I DVR'd the Hall of Fame induction last night and watched Flair's part this morning.
Showed his family and if one of his sons was "dating" Keibler she must have been delusional. One was fat and the other looked like a 15 yo SEC frat guy.

Flair was pretty humble and sincere in his speech and a complete departure from his character. It was pretty refreshing to see that.
The Rock still makes me laugh when he is on the mic.

The WWE bought the World Class library last year, that is why Kevin Von Erich was on Raw. I think the WWE is selling a family video of the Von Erich's also.

David was thin and kinda dorky when he was dating Stacy. Now he's chubby and dorky.

Also, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

And yeah, WWE put out a Von Erich/World Class DVD last year. Haven't seen it, heard it's pretty good.

EDIT to add: yeah I have watched some of those AWA and UWF eps. They haven't shown most of the good stuff from AWA and the UWF is the Herb Abrams sucky UWF instead of the cool Mid-South UWF that was badass.

I would like to date the **** out of Stacy Keibler.

Back to the OP's question, I've read it and it was a wonderful read, full of neat stories and (seemingly, at least) honest opinions. Like many of the WWE wrestler biographies, it seems like McMahon is perfectly willing to let them be honest about their histories and their feelings, even if those feelings are not complementary of McMahon and his family.

The outcomes are predetermined, but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of real emotions that go into things, which was very obvious in tonight's Raw conclusion. Must-see viewing for anyone who is or was a wrestling fan from 1975-now.

It was just as noticeable last night from what I've seen on the clips. Both Flair and Michaels were unable to keep a straight face towards the end and they both lost it on the final move and pin.

I read Rowdy Roddy Piper's autobiography on a flight and was shamed and sneered at - screw people who judge my reading choice. I had to know about Rene Goulet and Ivan Kolof behind the scenes.

Piper and Flair were my all time favs. I was a WWF/NWA guy in Virginia. Added UWF when I got to Texas.

Flair was always the man. The Four Horsemen were unstoppable and may be the best gimmick ever. That and Pipers Pit are legend.

Shouldn't have gone out doing a job.

You will be missed Ric. Whooooooooo!!!!

was flipping through the channels and came across the 'send off' tonight. it actually was touching seeing the real emotion/admiration/love between everybody.

i was hoping to see roddy piper come down the ramp. it brought a huge smile to see hacksaw jim duggan w/ his 2X4 standing atop the ramp. oh the childhood memories.

So does anyone know how old the Nature Boy is? He looked like he was mostly flab for the last 10 years. He was a great wrestling personality though. One of the best ever.

Flair is 59.

It cracks me up when people deride people who are interested in pro wrestling, like the people who were sneering at the Roddy Piper bio. I love when they blast you with the giant Shymalan twist - YOU KNOW IT'S FAKE, RIGHT? That never happens with anything else. You never see two people talking about Lost, and some chowderhead comes up and says YOU KNOW IT'S FAKE, RIGHT? HUR HUR HUR.

I mean, it's obviously not deep thinking highbrow art. But there is emotion, athleticism, drama, and some good mindless entertainment. WTF is wrong with that?
