RIATA Bar and Grill--REVISITED!

Went back to the RIATA Bar and Grill last night for the first time in a while, and I was happy to see some of the changes that had been made there. First, they have added a big screen TV on the west wall by the front door, which makes any of the seats at the bar great for watching sports. Last night we had Rangers and Astros on two TV's and the Olympics Opening Ceremony on the big screen, and I could watch them all easily!! Second, they have some signage on the walls, not much, but enough to break up the monotony of plain walls. Also, they have $2 pints of Bud Light all the time in addition to their regular happy hour specials.

Their burger finished 4th in the "Best Burgers of Austin" contest done by FOX 7, if that means anything to anybody. And of course, the women that work there are still beautiful, as were a lot of the women that were in there for happy hour!!! (Charlene and Brooke are both still there!)

If you haven't been by yet, check it out. Tell Jason, the owner, that Durkee sent you--he's a fellow Texas EX!

Agree on the improvements and Riata Grill has maintained the best burger on the north side of town.

We live off Parmer and go about once a week for a $2 pint and a bacon cheesburger on the jalopeno cheddar bun.

Will be a good spot once CFB gets started in a few weeks to spend a sat afternoon when the Horns are out of town.

Glad to hear they got something up on the walls. It looked "unfinished" with nothing but blank space.

Agree on the burger. I like the Monterrey Chicken Sandwich, myself. (I think that's what it's called.) Those of us up north really needed a local bar like this, and my wife and I have patronized it several times. I think it'll be even better come football season.

I might have to shoot up there tonight to have a few cold ones and see which of their staff is working tonight!
