Revenue Sharing approved Big 12

AP reports that Tier1 and 2 TV revenue sharing has been approved provided assignment of media rights to Big 12 for 6 years.
The Big 12 Conference says school leaders have agreed to equally share first- and second-tier television money if its members agree to give the league their TV rights for at least six years.

The revenue-sharing model had been proposed by Texas several weeks ago, but was waiting for a vote by league presidents. School leaders, who make up the Big 12 Board of Directors, voted Sunday and said each school must still approve the granting of TV rights.

Looks like this approval will be on the discussion list for the Mizzo Regents mtg Tuesday.

How come they're the only school scheduled to have a board meeting? Don't all the schools have similar approval processes?

I am confused to the Missouri situation. Reportedly Mizzou doesn't want equal sharing of Tier 1 and 2 revenues. I thought aggy's warmth with the SEC was that they shared Tiers 1 and 2 equally.

Does anyone know the true story (other than aggy is delusional)?

Mizzo wants equal rev share of Tier 1 and 2 ( Tier 2 w/Fox was already equal) and wants to tie OU and TX to the Big 12 before they commit to long term.

Assignment of media rights puts real teeth into conference stability not just a gentlemans agreement like last year.

Several schools have already had BOR mtg up to this point and Mizzo is catching up.

Does not sound like SEC is a home for Mizzo after all.

Missouri law requires the public posting of BOC business at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

Has tomorrow's agenda been publicly posted in MO yet, and if so, what does it say?

A lot of "confidential or privileged communications" stuff is going to be discussed tomorrow in Missouri, eh, jctex?

Thanks for the link.

Welll... Stallings is an SEC guy too (NC at Alabama) so I can understand why he might have some leanings that way...

As for the agreement to share revenues I wonder if they got Texas to agree NOT to televise conference games on the LHN because then that means Texas gets to keep all the money for that game as opposed to it being shared. I would think the $$$ coming from the Tier 1 & 2 networks is based on some formula that includes eyeballs that watch conference games.

Aggie was the main school against equal revenue sharing. Then they left the conference because of the LHN. Any other reason that may be mentioned is propoganda.

“I couldn't care less what the University of Texas does; that's their business. But the playing field is no longer level.

A&M has a more fanatical fan base than just about anyone. They could definitely make a network work. We are talking about a fan base that is attracted to random and offbeat internet polls just so their guy can win. they are sick. Im as big a longhorn fan as they come but I would probably never watch the longhorn network more than a couple times a year. there is no real advantage in TX, you see longhorn gear everywhere. A&M is right by houston and they could never get the talent. nothing is going to change that.

Tier 3 games by definition are games that are not going to be on TV. Without them being on the LHN there would be no money for the conference to lose on.

The Longhorn Network is awesome, if and when you get, I will bet money you will watch it more often then once or twice a year!!! I would say once or twice a week at least. I am watching it nightly, replaced Sportscenter for me!!!!!

A&M and OU both played home games on PPV this year; neither of them shared that tier 3 money with the other Big 12 schools. THAT'S SO UNFAIR!
