Ya know, I hate to be Mr. Sensitive Guy, but the woman is recovering from a serious illness and has had a traumatic surgery. It's not like having a mole removed.

I didn't think Paul Newman's cancer was a big joke, and I'm not good with Applegate's cancer, which could still kill her, being an opportunity for a bunch of adolescent titty fascination.

She did say she was going to get reconstructive surgery and you'd be amazed at what they can do nowadays. I've actually seen my aunts after her reconstruction and it looked great! They constructed hers out of stomach muscle so she got a little tummy tuck as well out of it. Extremely painful but she said it was totally worth it.

That said she is 36 and while I may be old I consider most women on the long side of 30 (with or without tits) to be "friends". YMMV

There's a good reason for the two viewpoints. On a personal level, this is a sad story and we hope the best for this person. On the other hand, we are presented with these TV stars as completely superficial, sort of like cartoon characters. They are sold to us that way, so it's not surprising we see them superficially even in their problems.

For the record: I am sad for the position that CA is in and wish her all the best. I will acknowledge the woman she has become, and remember the sex symbol she once was. This has to be incredibly difficult for her, and am inspired by the manner in which she is handling it.
