I'm somewhat new to the area and am curious what you call these little guys. They're about 3" long and their tail is probably 1". They're really slim, low to the ground, and a dark color - maybe dark green/brown.

They are called the Baylor Bears, post the mud-hole stomping by Wake last night.

Dont worry, its easy to live around them, they rarely bite, and if they do, just crush them, and they wont be back for ide say a year or so.

But seriously, Im not sure what you are describing....do you have a pic??

small version of this? i always called them swifts.

Sorry, no pics. It might have been a whiptail. The skinks look too shiny. The things I saw were pretty dull. I've seen all of them in suburban/UT areas which are not necessarily near riverbeds or wet areas. All the ones I've seen are 3"-4", but those guys in the link are in the 8-10" range (that's what she said).

um, captian, that's a bearded dragon. shouldn't be seeing those in the hood unless someone has released them into the wild. i've seen one down the street and i've seen one at the dog park at 24th and lamar.

Don't listen to these jokesters.

It is a somewhat common menace that is not really spoken about. It is the Brown Mamba Lizard. Very deadly, very territorial.
