Remote bomb detonator

No. Not really. But, I AM a pyromaniac and I would like to be able to set off a fireworks display remotely. I am thinking a model rocket launcher would do the trick? Any thoughts?

With the dry conditions, it will be Swim Forest Swim. I have a setup that will shoot 60 cannons, but it won't float. I use cannon fuse (Real cannons, not fireworks cannons. It is surprisingly available) and use duct tape to link cannon fuse to fireworks fuses. I would like to do this over water so I really don't want to be anywhere near it when I set it off.

Nick, answer the ******* question...I'm interested in this now.

If you are trying to ignite a fuse that will in turn ignite other fuses, do you suppose that a automotive cigarette lighter would do the trick? Rig the fuse to a cigarette lighter, and remotely switch on 12 volt power to the lighter.

Now, we need to figure out the best way to do that, but let's not put the cart ahead of the horse here.

and even if I knew how to post something on YouTube, it wouldn't matter as I haven't been invited to the party. Just the son. He has been invited to his roommate's bday party in Port O'Connor and he could probably set them up on a spoil bank, but even spoil banks don't deserve to burn up.

BW, I'm not exactly sure what the question is. I don't need an Estes engine, just the thing that ignites the engine. Once you get the fuse lit it will STAY lit. The trick is getting it lit. All the local places for rocketry have launchers, but they have 30' wires which don't really get you far enough out into the water to keep from setting a fire for sure. I'd like for the boy to go out into a bay, drop an anchor for a plank of plywood on an innertube or somesuch and then go back to the dock and hit a button to set it off. Mebbe asking for too much slick.

I DO have a rep for really cool fireworks displays. None of that candy-*** ****. The stuff you see at the 4th of July shows.

The rocket launcher igniter systems use like a pair of AA batteries. The roommate's parents have taken my son to Alabama for orientation and have invited us to spend move-in weekend at some family place on a lake somewhere between Tuscaloosa and San Antonio so I wouldn't be upset to spend $50-150 on a deal I could use again. I have plenty of lawnmower batteries, etc. I just need some sort of way to tell the battery to fire up the igniter without it being dragged through the ditch (Intercoastal Waterway) by a wire that got snagged by a boat or barge.

If you have a battery controlled switch that sets the fireworks off, there must be some way to make the switch work remotely. It would need a timer, or a radio controlled device. What about those devices that remotely start cars from inside your house? Could that be adapted? I don't know what range those devices have. I think aftermarket car alarm places sell them.
Aren't there timers that turn lights on when you are on vacation? Maybe some are battery operated, and could be used for this purpose.
Or you could leave a lit candle with the fuse one inch down in the candle, and when the candle burns down enough, it would light the fuse.
Or you could hook up the battery switch to the Clapper, by Ronco. Then go back to the dock in your boat. Then your expert sniper would fire a round, striking the Chinese gong you left hanging near the Clapper, setting off the fireworks.
It's simple, really.

That sounds complicated - just have the sniper shoot a tracer round at the fuse from the shore, lighting it on fire. Bypass the clapper and gong entirely that way.

The remote controlled starter idea got me interested, but they apparently have a range of about 30'. Pretty much the same as your key fob (weird word). While I was typing this my father called and I actually took the call and he suggested a gizmo that will make your deer feeder go off at your command. Off to Academy...

I have a remote control that I use for my low voltage lighting transformer. It is like the one below:

Remote controlled deer feeder activator works up to 100 yards and with a 6v battery cost about $30. Works like a charm. Thanks for the input guys.

Btw Accurate, I once cleared out a sports arena by using incense matches to serve as delayed fuses for KCL and sugar (smoke bombs) at a SA Spurs game in the 70's.

I ADMITTED to the pyromania. I also set my dad's workbench on fire testing the ****.

You do know that you're probably on some FBI, TSA, Homeland Security or some other agency watch list because of the title of this string, right?

Just wait until the next time you want to fly somewhere...

Not ME! The boy aborted it. He's a stickler for following rules. Bandera County for just one example has issued something like "Not Your Father's Burn Ban" where they claim there will be no ticketing for burn ban violations (which include fireworks), only immediate incarceration. We are VERY dry here. Like EPIC drought conditions. I have been told that we have had the worst drought in 75 years in the hill country. Something like 180 out of 254 counties have burn bans in effect. It even got a segment on the Colbert Report.

yeah, we had the usual small brush fires break out last night due to drunken ******** with mexican bottle rockets.
